Edale Rise Primary and Nursery School

Early Years

The early years at Edale consists of a unit of Nursery and Reception children. Children start their learning journey with us from the age of 3 up until the end of reception when children will have already or be close to turning 5 years old. Please click below to view our early years vision.

Early Years Foundation Stage Vision

In the early years we use an observation system called ‘Evidence Me’ to capture those wow moments with the children and to share them with parents at home. Parents can also use the app to share wow moments at home with us in school to build that bigger, holistic picture of children’s learning and development. Please click on the video below to watch a demonstration of how you can use ‘Evidence Me’ to become a partner in your child’s learning and development.

EYPP Funding

In the early years, children aged 3 and 4 may be entitled to receive Early Years Pupil Premium funding, which, similarly to Pupil Premium funding for older children, aims to support schools and children in raising academic standards and progress, engagement and well-being for these children.

We have used the funding to purchase interventions to support literacy, maths and communications skills. These include ‘Early Talk Boost’ and we have trained additional staff within the setting to allow for a greater number of children to access this intervention. We have purchased ‘colourful semantics’ resources to support our EYPP children who also may have communication difficulties or English as an additional language. Resources have been purchased to support children’s engagement and characteristics of effective learning during continuous provision such as high quality role play and small world. In addition to this, we recognise the impact that school closures have had on our youngest children and have invested funding in Mini Bikers balanceability courses to develop road safety awareness and gross motor skills and perseverance when using balance bikes.
