Edale Rise Primary and Nursery School

Sports Premium

WHAT IS THE SPORTS PREMIUM?

The government has allocated funding of to improve PE and sport in schools. The funding is jointly provided by the Department for Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport. This money has gone directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE. Each school has received £16,000 plus an extra £10 per pupil each year – here at Edale Rise, that means over £16,250 a year. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.

PURPOSE OF THE FUNDING

Schools may spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they do this. Examples include additional sport clubs, equipment to support PE and hiring specialist PE teachers/qualified sport coaches.

At Edale Rise, we know how important it is for children to have high quality PE and sport, for their health and well-being. In addition, we feel that regular exercise has a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of children.
