Digital technology in the 21st Century is an essential resource to support learning and teaching, as well as playing an important role in the everyday lives of children, young people and adults. As a school, we encourage the use of these technologies both in and out of school and aim to equip our children with the skills needed for our ever changing digital world.

E-Safety is taught explicitly throughout our curriculum. From EYFS to year 6, our PSHE and digital curriculums explore and revisit a variety of issues related to e-safety to ensure that our children know how to stay safe when online. This includes but is not limited to the following objectives:

• Understand the risks of browsing online
• Recognise and describe appropriate online behaviour
• Know and explain strategies for safe online sharing
• Understand that not everything we read online, either text or images, is always true or accurate
• Recognise online bullying and understand how to report it
• Know how to keep information private online

https://www.internetmatters.org/ – a not-for-profit organisation set up to empower parents and carers to keep children safe in the digital world. Their support for parents includes a range of downloadable guides covering subjects such as transition to secondary school, Vlogging & livestreaming, online gaming and cyberbullying.

https://www.nspcc.org.uk/ – includes a range of resources to help parents keep children safe when they’re using the internet, social networks, apps, games and more.

https://parentzone.org.uk/parents – offers a range of resources for families, to help them meet the challenges of the digital age, including parent guides on the latest digital trends and platforms.

https://nationalonlinesafety.com/guides – this website contains guides for specific platforms which your child may use or you may have concerns about. This spans from websites such as eBay and popular online games right up to more recent platforms like Clubhouse. They also have useful guides on how to safely set up new devices.
